What are the building rules?

General Rules for the National Innovation Centre

In these rules:

  • Building means the National Innovation Centre, Cornwallis Street, Eveleigh NSW 2015;
  • Premises means Your premises in the Building under Your client services agreement;
  • Us or Ours means Cicada Innovations Pty Ltd ABN 15 092 808 850;
  • You or Your means you, a client of Ours under a client services agreement, and includes Your contractors, agents or employees.
  1. All pedestrian ways will be solely used for the purposes of ingress and egress. In particular all of Your contractors, agents or employees must not obstruct or cause the obstruction of any:
    • The atrium 
    • Passage
    • The lift
    • Stairways
    • Fire doors
    • The escape route relating to the Building. 
  2. You must not tint or cover any windows or glazed partitions without the prior approval of Cicada Innovations. (i.e. Our)
  3. You must not allow any animals or birds to be brought into the building.
  4. You must not throw anything down the elevator shaft of the Building.
  5.  Your must not deposit or store waste paper or rubbish anywhere except in proper receptacles, or burn rubbish or waste in the Premises or the Building at any time.
  6. You must not litter the Building common areas.
  7. You must not dump any items larger than a garbage bag in or around the rubbish bins provided. It is Your responsibility to remove at Your cost all rubbish that does not meet the requirements including all pallets, old equipment and construction materials.
  8. You are responsible to fold flat all cardboard containers; boxes etc. and dispose of all these items in the cardboard recycling bin provided for this purpose. All non recycling materials must be removed before the cardboard is flattened.
  9. You are responsible for all recyclable bottles and plastic containers being disposed of in the recycling bins provided for this purpose.
  10. You must not, except with Our permission use any method of lighting (other than desk lamps), cooling or heating other than as prescribed and fixed by Us.
  11. You must not use or permit to be used any of the common areas to receive or store goods or equipment without Our prior approval. You must comply with all of Our reasonable requirements in regard to such matters.
  12. No explosive power-driven method of fixing articles to ceilings, walls or floors are to be used without Our written permission.
  13. You must ensure that all exterior doors in the Premises (whether opening outside or onto a common area) are to be closed and locked securely when the Premises are not in use. We are authorised from time to time to enter the Premises for the purpose of locking any doors or windows left unlocked or unfastened or to check the general security of the Building and the Premises. 
  14. Smoking is not permitted within the Building or ten (10) meters of the Building’s perimeter.
  15. You must adhere to all building WHS notices. 
  16. You must supply a list of all:
      1. Fire extinguishers and other fire fighting equipment which is maintained by You
      2. Dangerous gases, chemicals including any waste generated from the use of these chemicals and all documentation relating to them
      3. All necessary Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) in relation to point ii
  17. You must adhere to fire and evacuation procedures as per Our announcements.
  18. You must provide a number of wardens for emergency procedures per floor.
  19. You must not ride bicycles, skateboards, scooters or run recklessly within the Building. 
  20. You must use only the main entry door between the hours 1800 and 0600 Monday to Friday and Weekends to 0600 Monday. All other perimeter exit doors are alarmed between 2000 and 0600 weekdays and 24 hours on weekends and public holidays. You may be charged our reasonable security costs, including investigation and call out costs, if Your employee, agent or contractor violates the signage posted relating to this matter, including if caught on a security camera or by a security officer. 
  21. You must not leave bags or clothing: 
      1. In the shower cubicles
      2. In Any Building common areas
  22. You must comply with all reasonable directions that may from time to time be given by Us in relation to:
      1. Refurbishment works to the Building
      2. Repairs to the Building common areas
      3. Maintenance of infrastructure provided by our public utilities
  23. When working in communal areas, You must be mindful that other people may be working and refrain from making unnecessary noise and disturbance.
  24. These rules may change from time to time and as such updates notices will be circulated to all clients.
  25. You must ensure that Your CEO takes responsibility to ensure that these rules are adhered to and distributed amongst all Your contractors, agents and employees.
